Description: The engine is in but needs everything hooked up. Suspension will be bolted in. The water pump is bolted on and plumbed. Intake manifold is assembled. Generally, the small stuff.

Water pump
Here is the upper view of the pump installed. It is a "short" Chevy pump installed upside down. The only mods required was to plug one fitting and some minor grinding.

This is the completed pump drive. It is in the wheelwell and there is no idler, but I put over 15K miles on this setup in my previous Fiero with zero problems. There is no clearance problems with the wheels either. A cover could be built, but I found this was not required.

Suspension assembly
The suspension is assembled. A arms with poly bushings were installed, along with new hubs/bearings and drive shafts. The shafts are new, but are stock. This engine kit does not require custom built axles like other kits do.

The pre 88 Fiero suspension uses a rear tie rod to control the suspension. I added a custom rod that makes for a more solid unit. It is bolted to the frame with a Heim joint and uses a stock rod end on the hub.

Axle shaft to transaxle
Like stated before, stock axle shafts are used. One is slightly compressed in the joints while the other is streched slightly. The joints have enough to make up the difference, and there is are problems with binding or joint seperation.

With the suspension complete, the car was taken off the jacks. It will have to go up and down a few times, but the jacking required to install the engine is not really stable.
