Part 4 engine installation

Description: Time to mount the V8 into the car. This is where you start to see something cool. Not many people see V8 in this car.

Old vs new
Here is a side by side shot of both engines. Of course, there are a few more things to install on the V8. It does appear the V6 package has more to it than the V8. The V8 actually looks less cluttered when installed.

The belt is installed, along with the lower water pump drive cog. The alternator bracket is slotted for adjustment, and can easily be reached under the car for future service.
Drive system


Starter
A mini high torque starter is installed on the engine adapter. Due to this setup, a remote oil filter is required. The adapter is shown above the starter. The filter mount is bolted to the subframe to the right of this photo.

Old chevy ram horn manifolds are used. Short block hugging headers can also be used, but will put more heat into the engine compartment. Since this engine is mostly stock, these will work well.

Ready to lift
The engine is rolled under the car for mounting. So far, so good. The crane is bolted up and the engine is lifted up into the car. Again, use care to ensure it goes up without bumping the car.

The engine is lifted up into the car, and the subframe is bolted in place. It fits with room to spare, but looks a heck of a lot more impressive than the V6.

Oil pan
A stock oil pan is used, and fits with no problems. The exhaust system will place one cat converter under the front of it, but will still give it good ground clearance.
